Two neighbors, a mill, and a lot of flour.
Tend to Table started in our kitchen in Newport, KY. We were already milling our own flour at home. Friends kept asking if they could buy some. So we made it easy.
How this got started.
I started milling our own flour a few years ago. It was one of those small changes that, once I noticed it, I couldn't un-notice. The bread tasted better. The pancakes smelled like something. My family reached for seconds on recipes they'd been eating their whole lives.
When I started reading about what actually happens to commercial flour — the germ and bran stripped out for shelf life, the synthetic vitamins added back in, the weeks-to-months warehouse journey — I realized most people have no idea this is how their flour got there. I didn't, for a long time.
We tried the farmers market route first. It didn't quite fit — too much lugging, not enough of the customer conversations I actually wanted to have. So we flipped the model: order online, we mill it the day you order, you pick it up or we deliver it. Same flour, less friction.
I'm not trying to turn anyone into a professional baker. I just want the flour in your pantry to actually be good for you.
That's the whole thing.

Melissa & Charles. Newport, KY.
We live and work in Newport, Kentucky — just across the river from Cincinnati. Melissa is the creator and the miller. Charles handles packaging, deliveries, and every logistical thing that isn't the actual grinding of wheat into flour.
We're a two-person kitchen operation, and we like it that way. You're not a ticket number here — you're the person whose loaf we milled this morning.
Fresh flour, in more kitchens.
Our mission is simple: bring fresh-milled flour to as many people as possible. You shouldn't need a $300 mill or a spare shelf in your kitchen to bake with something that's actually good for you.
It's about nutrition. It's about knowing what's in your food. It's also, honestly, about flavor — because once you taste a pancake made with flour that was a whole grain yesterday, it's hard to go back.
We handle the milling. You handle the baking. That's the deal.
